Tussie Mussies and Hydrangeas

IDK…I don’t think I’m ready to set up tomorrow at La Bahia but ready or not I have to.  I made more tussies to sell there.

DSCN0430

These aren’t as big as the ones I showed you last week and I can’t seem to get a decent picture.  I have a few pink ones and

These which I love because I have gorgeous dried blue hydrangeas to fill them.

And some green hydrangeas! Oh they are so pretty and papery.  I’m planning on $15 for these.  IDK…what do you think?DSCN0437

Have a wonderful weekend.  Gotta run!

Purple Spring

image Beverly at How Sweet The Sound has asked us to share something today to celebrate the arrival of spring.  Two weeks ago we woke to this in our yards! A sea of purple rippling through the whole neighborhood.  It was  so beautiful and I’m glad I took a picture then and there as it was not only beautiful but also fleeting.  By afternoon when we returned home from our early morning baseball game it was gone.

This week I should be getting ready for Antique Week at Round Top but instead made prizes for my bunco group.  These tussies are really large – about 14 inches with the handle. Making those little lollies was a lot easier with my new scoreboard.

Isn’t the little birdie on this one sooo cute!?

 DSCN0402

I used some vintage garland for trim along with some cotton crochet.  This one has a bunny

and I used either buttons or little painted wooden eggs for centers of the lollies.

DSCN0407

I think I’ll make some of these to sell at our booth at La Bahia during Antique Week.

I hope spring has arrived wherever you may be and that you’re having a springy Pink Saturday.

St. Patrick’s Day

Well I missed it.  Did you?  You know…Pi Day so Happy belated Pie Day! (Freudian slip!)

Did you ever hear of  Pi Day before we were all so computer savy?  I didn’t and I knew what that “pi” symbol was (which I can’t write on this blog without screwing up my text) but had no idea why yesterday was “pi” day. Because…3, 1 and 4 are the three most significant digits of π in the decimal form. In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day.  I know this because I’m a physicist –not! I just copied it from Wikipedia which is written by people like me who only get things right about half the time. ( yea I found the π symbol!)

Anyway – in belated honor of π Day here are my Py people! Aren’t they darling?

DSCN0331

And now that we’re all here…the gang and I want to wish all of you….

DSCN0327

A Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Lucky

I have got to get on the stick!  I’ve just spent about an hour looking for some pink pictures that I haven’t used and I couldn’t find any!  I am out of pink.

kids on stilts

I found a green bingo card and turned it pink so if you can use it have at it.

I put this on here last year but here it is again – you can make a really cute banner.  Click on the pictures to enlarge to original size to download the original size.  Which reminds me – I need to find that banner and hang it up.  It’s raining right now and supposed to continue through the weekend so that’s lucky for us since we need all the rain we can get.   :)

image

Here’s mine that I made.  It’s coming unglued…just like me!

It was sooo humid today you could hardly breathe. The temp was high 70s so it wasn’t hot just miserably humid.  Then this front blew through an hour ago and we’re in the 50s heading for the 40s. Lucky again since I feel like we skipped winter this year.  I wore my coat one time!

And finally on a sad note….it’s time to set our clocks ahead one hour Saturday night or if you prefer get up at 1:00 a.m. and change everything to 2:00 a.m.  Would you like for me to call and remind you? At 1:00 a.m.?  I’m sure I’ll be awake worrying about losing an hour!

St. Patricks Day is next Saturday.  Maybe we can post green  for Pink Saturday next week.  Beverly at How Sweet The Sound who hosts Pink Saturday usually celebrates every holiday with colors of the season.  Meantime I have to go on a Pink hunt with my camera.  See you next Saturday all you little leprechauns!

Fashion By The Sea

Remember The $10,000 Pyramid Game Show?  Let’s play  - shells, sand, swimsuits, rosy – that’s right…Things you find by the sea, that also happen to be pink!

DSCN0260

I’ve worked in Kay Ellen’s circle journal this past month and when asked if the other journalers wanted to see pictures of their book now or be surprised later  3 out of 10 said now and  7 out of 10 didn’t answer! So what did Kay Ellen say?

Survey says…………..NOW! So here it is and my pages are titled “Fashion By the Sea”.  One daring fashionista is taking much delight in ignoring city ordinance 72.  (click on pics to enlarge)

DSCN0263

I’ve embellished with a teeny tiny little doll fan so le Pyjama gals can keep cool.

 DSCN0259

On the opposite page sitting under a polka dot banner another vintage beauty suns herself by a watercolored sea in her socks and shoes!  I painted a background and zentangled a horizon line.

DSCN0257

Embellishments  (I hope) evoke feelings of buoys and splashing waves and crystal waters.

DSCN0255

Vintage crepe paper ruffles for sand and some fisherman’s netting and a little bling to finish it off.   On the left I used a piece of a cigar box to stabilize the page.  It reads “Hand Made”.  Truly it is and I didn’t have to buy a thing as  I found everything in my craftroom. DSCN0261

Hope she likes it.

I’m joining in for Pink Saturday with Beverly at How Sweet The Sound

Happy March! xoxo Nancy

and let us not forget…TEXAS Independence Day! March 2, 1836 – The Republic of Texas – no longer northern Mexico.
