Meanwhile...Back At The Ranch!

The Valley Girls were up at the crack of dawn last Sat. a.m. We got our big pink Q set up down at the road and
took a test run in the EasyGo. It was a perfect weather day.
Over at the house there were bikes and toys lined up for the grandkids..
Jeff was brewing up a giant pot of coffee for our guests. What a Whirlwind!!
Here's Barbara putting some finishing touches on a table. Doesn't she look coy???
What is LaVerne doing? Putting lavender sprigs out to ward off scorpions! Really. Junque sale shopping is not for sissies!
And then guess what? Kathy from Emptynester showed up and we were so thrilled to meet her that I got this picture of her and her daughter and sister and after that NO ONE got any more pictures!!! Who hates herself now???? Ack. And we had tons of folks and I have NO PICTURES. Candy from Rock Candy was there and I have NO PICTURES OF HER. We had a Cantina set up with a rum punch loaded with fruit and everyone readily agreed not to sue us! LOL. (Now there's a breakfast!) At high noon we threw some hotdogs on the grill for all the hungry shoppers. Honestly, Tracy, (another Valley girl from Houston) and I stayed busy all day checking people out! Shout out to Tracy... and Carol...a GIANT THANK YOU!!!
And finally our last customer, Z. She'd been asking for two days if the "stow-uh" was open! She definitely inherited her grandmother's shopping gene!!!
If you were able to come to the sale we all want to thank you and if you missed it we'll be doing it again in the fall. Thanks again, Nancy, LaVerne, Barbara, Judy and Patty!

Tablescape Thursday

Wow - can you believe Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away? Just Kidding! I know it's Easter but I've been so busy that I'm cheating a little for Tablescape Thursday by "recycling" a table I did for Thanksgiving. The dinner plate is Woods and Son and the Turkey salad plate is from Marshalls as is the Johnson Bros. coffee mug.

This pretty crocheted placemat was done by one of the Canyon Lake church ladies.

I was inspired by this wonderful Blue Sky teapot with not only blue but a bit of purple. I bought a box lot of purple glassware on ebay ages ago and they added sort of a surprise element. (Surprised that I was finally able to use them!) The Jim Shore pumpkin and turkey have a tiny bit of all these colors.

In the background I have some Morgantown crinkle glass that I'm always looking for. Mostly I get lucky on ebay every so often.

Notice I have no napkins? I think I planned on eating really carefully or maybe I just took the picture before I decided on napkins!

JunQue Sale

One more day until our big sale and we're work, work working to get it all ready. How could we possibly have accumulated this much stuff??? Letting go of it isn't easy but....as we keep saying - It's time for someone else to enjoy it. Uh - I'd say we have a few cake plates! LOL Quilts, Chenille, cross stitched quilts, quilt, tops, quilt pieces - I'm starting to sound like Forrest Gump! At twilight, as the it started cooling off, Barbara started a nice cozy fire in the firepit. Have your ever seen anything so inviting?? I'll try to post pictures of the signs that will be down at the road in the morning. xoxo Nancy

Tablescape Thursday

Going on the theory: why finish one task when you can go on to another??!**! and in the middle of sorting and getting ready for the upcoming JunQue sale I thought why not do up a little vignette of some of the stuff for Tablescape Thursday.

And here's the result.

Blue and White Table:

A little of this...a little of thatAnd boxes of mismatched JunQue can become a really beautful tablescape.

Blue and White China: Barbara's box of JunQue

Linens: Nancy's JunQue

Napkin Rings: Judy's boutique JunQue!

(Click on any image to enlarge it)

Have you ever wanted to go to a pre-preview sale to just dig through boxes??? Well here's your chance. We've decided to show you our big giant unorganzied starting point over at the Rio Star Ranch blog. It's slowly but surely coming together and by the time Saturday 10:00 A.M. rolls around it will be completely organized. The tents will be up with more furniture, the barn will be open for business and trust me...there's an amazing amount of incredible JUNQUE! This is a loooong slide show so you could probably click on the arrows to make it go a little faster.

We'll have more things up later this week. Till then....The Valley Girls (organizing Texas one box at a time!)

Bluebonnets - God's Gift To Texas

Late for Blue Monday...story of my life! Go here to visit Smiling Sal for a list of blogs participating. For my post a few pages from a book I work on every few months:

Into Each LifeA little rain must fall...
It's what makes the flowers grow. Thank you, Lord, for the rain last week!

This is what it should look like soon in the Texas Hill Country but we've been in a drought for the past 18 months so not this year. This is our church and cemetary. It's where my sister is buried.

Everything will come again! The bluest of blessings to you....Nancy
