A Pink Swap for Pink Saturday

For once I did remember to take some photos before tearing into this exquisite box of pink goodies. For the Vintage Pink Christmas swap, Betty at She's So Pretty was my partner. Betty makes these fabulous pin cushions with crochet and vintage fabrics and I don't know how she makes the incredible little flowers but They are just wonderful. Her work is really amazing and I loved everything in this package. (That Hersheys didn't last long!)
Take a look at the little "candies" - are they delicious or what. There were beautiful old shiny brite ornaments and look at that Snowlady!!! I had never seen one before and I just think she couldn't be more adorable!
Thank you so much Betty for these pink goodies. I loved it all. Betty has some great pictures on her blog so stop by and see her on your Pink Saturday tour. Be sure to visit Beverly who so graciously hosts this weekly event. Have a wonderful week. Nancy

The Magic Hanky

Does anyone remember these? A baby shower gift from my friend Taryl in 1972.
Now I need to launder and press it for my son to give to his honey
36 years later! And it seems like yesterday I was bringing home my baby boy with the little bonnet on his head! Sigh.

Pink Christmas

I'm drrrreeeeeaming.....of a Piiiiiiink Christmas P .
I thought I'd share a couple of pictures of some really beautiful displays from the Antique Gallery. Isn't this gorgeous? This gal, Eileen, has the most beautiful ornaments she paints roses on. I love the way she did her garland - it's completely pink-a-licious!She paints roses on about everything!
Really - everything!
Thanks, Eileen for letting us tour your pink booth.
Now I have to show you my hands down most fabulous bestest bargain ever!!!! This is my $15.00 rug I bought at a yard sale. It was hanging on a fence and the part showing looked a little discolored and I knew I could find a use for the good part. It measures about 9x12 and is thick, soft wool.

So I bought it, spread it out on my porch to shampoo it and it wasn't faded at all - just the way the nap was laying. It has beautiful shades of pink all through it and the beige is definitely a "pink tone beige. It's in my bedroom now and it looks fabulous on my drafty old hardwood floor and warms the room (and my toes) and just feels like silk on my feet.
I'm totally in love with it! So thank you crazy person who sold this rug waaay to cheap...... Now I have to go walk on my $15 rug some more so have a wonderful Pink Saturday! Thanks Beverly at How Sweet the Sound - the pink hostess with the mostest.
Y Nancy

Psst - I have a little giveaway going on this weekend for Karen's Christmas Fair one post down.

Blue Christmas on Pink Saturday

Hello my pink friends. Last August when it was 1 jillion degrees here in Texas a new Christmas Store opened in New Braunfels. It's associated with Schlitterbahn - the top rated water park in the whole U.S. ! Waterpark? and Christmas? Normally I would say they don't quite go hand in hand but Schlitterbahn is opening during the holidays this year with a spectacular light display, ice skating and is being transformed into a winter wonderland. Anyway, now that I have totally overexplained that I'll take you on a tour of the store. Park your reindeer right here.
And step into this 150 year old stone home turned Christmas Shoppe! Are these trees BLUE enough for you?
Lovely blue ornaments...Pretty wreath but I'm sort of wondering...is there any pink here??? Maybe a pink angel. Nope she's blue too but I do love her.
How about Santa. Nope he's a beautiful shade of blue but I wanted some pink things to share.
Things just kept getting bluer.Incredible BLUE swag but....NUTS! Will I ever come across anything PINK?!!Ah, finally something with a little pink mixed in with the red.Looky here...a table full of pink chef Santas but who's the lousy photographer chopping off heads and fuzzying the whole picture?? MEEEE. You knew I was saving the best for last. Just for you here is a fabulous display of PINK SANTAS. Aren't they the best?

Look at him on that glammed up reindeer. So if you could have any one of these things which one would it be?
I hate to be a pink traitor but I just love that blue angel. Don't tell Beverly when you stop over at How Sweet The Sound! Pink Hugs to you, Nancy

Mute Your Speakers

I can't believe I'm doing this...decorating my blog for Christmas already! Do you just hate me. When you hear the Christmas music you surely will! Well, get out your chestnuts and start roasting like me! I've been working on my Christmas swaps today getting them ready to mail and poor old Thanksgiving is once again getting slighted! Two years ago my sister was buried the day after Thanksgiving so we just skipped it. Last year we had a Thanksgiving breakfast so my brother could be with family before we left to go out of town. A nice get together but everyone rushed off to go to their "real" Thanksgiving dinners. And this year my son is getting married ON Thanksgiving. So we'll have a wedding and then a Thanksgiving feast for the reception. I'm so thrilled to have something really wonderful to celebrate and I'm truly thankful that my son finally found the love of his life and I'm thankful that I get a little granddaughter in the deal!!! But today with Halloween decorations still hanging around I decided to go straight to Christmas! (A swap sneaky peek!) I used to be a super woman decorating big time for all three holidays but lately I'm taking a more minimalist approach. I'll definitely do less shopping this year. I'd like to pay more attention to my Snow Village and maybe less of the other decorating. Make more of my gifts and
I'd like to bake more and take sumptuous goodies to my neighbors and friends. We all have too much "stuff" and I know my friends would love homebaked goods. So here's my plans for this year:Keep the Thursday stuff to a minimum......And make it a point to:

Big Holiday Hugs! Nancy

New stuff at The Roost. Two more lamps with some "interesting" shades... This is one of Jeff's teapot lamps with a shade I made from book pages.
And this one has fringe from a vintage spread. I'm so into making lampshades right now.

I love this picture. I think it is St. Anthony and would love to keep it but I can't keep everything! New phones and teapots - this is tough! It's been slow at the Antique Gallery overall, but we've had a decent week. These pictures are from yesterday and today we put some really neat Christmas things there. A large birdcage completely full of silver Christmas balls is really neat and I FORGOT my camera so if it's still there I'll post some pics later. I'm working on a website for The Roost so I can post pictures there.... but then what will I yak about here when that's all I've been doing lately. So now I'm off to visit my blog friends and catch up on what you guys have been doing. Y Nancy

Happy Birthday To You Nov 7th Babies!

We're celebrating birthday's on MCLP. So I'm combining Beverly's Pink Saturday and Carolyn and Rhonda's "Remembering the 80's" blogathon. Rhonda is celebrating her 40th birthday today! So I'm joining this little soiree solely to wish her the happiest of birthdays! Forty years old! Maybe some of you could recommend a good assisted living center for the old gal. Yikes! In the late 80's I was 40! Therefore I've pretty much forgotten how to remember. However all you 40ish people should definitely share your 80's memories on your blog and link up to the other whippersnappers over there. So this is for Rhonda.......
and this is for my husband - Mr. Medicare - who also is celebrating his birthday today!
and here's my thoughts on how 2 generations use the 80's expression...
BITCHIN'
Have a "tubular" Pink Saturday! Y Nancy
