Friday - Finding Beauty

Today is Friday and we're looking for beauty.  I think my dog Lillie Louise is about the most beautiful thing and she definitely brings huge joy into our lives.  She's a sheltie and shelties are really smart (besides being incredibly sweet).  Her breeds close cousin, the Border Collie,  however. are the rocket scientists of the dog world.  So I thought I'd share this video from You Tube.  Since it's been viewed millions of times I'm probably the last person in the world to see it.  These dogs respond to whistles and commands from their owners to move sheep exactly where they are told and they are just amazing.  Take a look - you'll be amazed, too!

I’m joining  Claudia at Dipity Road~~ Finding Beauty which she plans to host each Friday. I think it would do us all good to look for beauty each week. Be sure to visit Claudia and the other beautiful participants.   Have a beautiful day!
xoxo  Nancy
Hug your dog today!

What an awesome video. I love the ram formation the sheep and rams made. They really are pretty animals. And of course, the dogs are super smart (and have tons of energy!!). Loved this! :-)

I had never seen this video-- so cool. I had the opportunity this summer to go to one of their tournaments and they are such brilliant dogs!

Thanks so much for sharing with us.

  5. First, I hug my dog all the time. I just say hug and he starts wagging his tail and gets ready for it. He's half yellow lab and half husky, so it takes a BIG hug.

Thanks for sharing this video, I've never seen anything like it and it was awesome!

Border Collies are working dogs and not everyone should own one. My neighbor lets hers in the backyard all the time to run loose. This means I can't go in my yard. Once it barked at me for 4 hours straight before I finally gave up and went inside. Not a bad dog — a bad owner.

  10. Your little Sheltie is a great example of beauty! And you're right, Border Collies are the smarty-pants of the dog world, for sure!

I've seen that vid before, but really, it's only demonstrating skills that Border Collies and their masters have been using on the Welsh hillsides (and the rest of the UK) for centuries. We used to have a TV programme here called 'One Man and his Dog' which was basically about the working dog competitions which tested the skills of these remarkable dogs. Fascinating viewing!

  16. This is amazing Nancy. Sheep trials are fascinating, and border collies are incredible dogs. I have to wonder if those sheep were thinking "what the heck" when they wore the light blankets! Thats a great shot of your Miss Lillie, she is gorgeous and you can see how sweet she is in that beautiful face. Thank for stopping. Yes, I do love the job, but some days.... Kathy

  18. Oh Nancy Lillie is beautiful!!!!! How old is she? I have a Sheltie too. Reba is the first female Sheltie I have had but, I had two sweet boys before her. SHELTIES ROCK!!!! Ms Reba is going to be 13 on the 29th of this month & she has been VERY sick with pancreatitis & we almost lost her over the holidays. So, when I saw Lillie's sweet beautiful face my heart jumped with joy. I am hopeful that we have the worst behind us & she will be beautiful like Lillie again soon. I drove through Austin last weekend & could NOT believe how it has grown!!!! It had been about a year or more since I went down 35 through Austin (so often we go to San Antonio down 281 instead) Would love for us to keep in touch. I always think it is fun to meet other bloggers. Candy of Rock Candy is down near Burene & we had lunch one day when she was up in Grapevine. Have a wonderful week. HUG LILLIE for Reba & I (sneak over & visit to see photos of Ms Reba) Charlene
