May Day! May Day!

Happy May Day to all my pink friends!  Don't you just love May?3231919883_38d25dd2a1

Birds are singing, flowers blooming, tussies on doors and dancing around the Maypole? lol….well….tussies anyway.  This beautiful tussie was sent to me by that talented arteest extraordinaire…Scrap For Joy.

DSCN2522

I love the pale pink seam binding bow and the beautiful bluebird card tucked inside.  And speaking of bluebirds – look what else was in the package….

DSCN2523

One of the bluebirds that I collect!  Serendipity for sure since Joyce said she picked this up a year before this swap!  Always thinking of others – she thought he would be happier nesting at my house with his cousins!!!!  Oh how I love him! I was beyond excited!

DSCN2510

Along with the bluebird, a plethora of fabulous goodies was packed in the May Basket.

DSCN2511

Vintage tally cards, some of her wonderful tags and cards…lots of beautiful vintage cards.  There was also some of the most fabulous chocolate from a local confectioner which didn't even last long enough to get a picture of it!

Thank you Joyce for the beautiful May Basket and

Show and Tell Friday

I recently joined in "A Swap For All Seasons".  It's really one of the best run swap groups I know of.  Here's a look at some of the things that I sent to my partner Scrap For Joy.  Our theme was to make a May Day Tussie Mussie and fill with treats that your partner loves.  For some reason my Tussie turned out GIANT!  Well, all the better to fill with treats, my dear! lOl

See – it's about as large as the lamp and it's a big lamp!

DSCN2105

The little girl vase is holding – what else?  A tussie! Cute huh?

DSCN2108

I glittered these little vintage birds and they then put their party hats on.

DSCN2109

I'll show you the tussie I received from my partner Joyce on Pink Saturday which is also May Day and some of the most wonderful gifts that were tucked in her package.

I'm joining Cindy's  My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.   You'll love looking at all the pretty Show and Tell blogs…see you tomorrow for Pink Saturday.

Tech Tuesday

Hello – I'm joining that meme that everyone loves…Tech Tuesday.  What????  There is no such meme?    Okay….but I'm posting my pictures of Lillie Louise anyway.

DSCN2557

She crawled right up in front of me in my "office" (ahem) and put her little head on the keyboard….

DSCN2555

and stayed for an hour.   She's even falling asleep there -

DSCN2556

just like I do!

Happy Tech Tuesday!  xoxo Nancy

Pink Saturday Apronology

I might start cooking again!  Maybe not, but I just might don this cute little apron and watch while Jeff cooks! LOL  The mailman arrived with a package last week with this fabulous apron made just for me by my bff in Ohio…Linda.  (Isn't she beautiful? This was taken at her granddaughters wedding – she look's like the bride to me and the old geezer next to her  looks like he robbed the cradle- just like his best bud…Jeff who also robbed the cradle)  Anyway – back to Aprons!

linda

Linda is a fabulous seamstress.  Aren't you in awe of people who can sew anything?

DSCN2537

I adore the cherries – the first picture I took was wrong side out – except for the pockets you can't tell the difference – the finishing work is so fine!

DSCN2538

I was so surprised with that apron and then when I lifted it out of the box this apron was underneath it!!!  Look at that cute little bum – pretend it's just like my very own.

DSCN2544

This apron has this adorable little flouncy skirt bottom.   I'm wearing this one to Paper Cowgirl this year.  It looks "Gypsy Cowgirl" style, doesn't it.

DSCN2540

Linda has made aprons for her entire family and she chooses fabrics to match their interests.  And she knows that I'm interested in Pink Saturday!

DSCN2543

They both look darling hanging in my back hallway where everyone comes in.  Doesn't it look like Donna Reed lives here???

I'm joining Beverly at How Sweet The Sound  for Pink Saturday – be sure to visit her along with all the PS bloggers….especially Joey at Antiquemajik – a new blog I find really interesting. She's does some neat altered art which I love!  You will too so go visit!  xoxo Nancy

Show and Tell

I was part of a little thing on Flickr called – Make 5.  I signed up for a couple and then in turn offered to make 5 things for the first 5 people who signed up for it.  Two of the gifts that I received were some really amazing mosaic pieces. First this adorable "purse" arrived out of the blue from Katherine.   For each purse she made there was a story attached – this was Jesse and you can read her story here.  She even made the "clasp" herself.

 DSCN1682

It really adds "life" to my room.  I think there should be at least a teeny bit of yellow in every room!  I love the beaded handle. Plus as you can see the prettiest yellow birds are attracted to it!

DSCN1677

Next came the yummiest slice of cake ever!  Kelley at Teacups and Ponies is a truly gifted ceramic artist and works with broken china.

This slice has mossy frosting and layers decorated with little pearls and flowers and…

DSCN2125

Oh my goodness…little birdies are attracted here also!

DSCN2122

Adorable isn't it?

DSCN2123

And what a relief when I finally was able to send off my own Make Five.  Being totally inept at mosaics I made 5 Blessing Rings.  They also have a little "bird" theme going on!  Occasionally I get enough made for my Etsy store.

DSCN2084

They hang from a heavy copper ring that my husband makes for me with 50 yr old copper wire his grandfather gave him years ago.

DSCN2083

DSCN2087

So that's it – this is what I've been working on lately plus a beautiful May Day Tussie Swap but I think I'll save that for….May Day!

DSCN2128

Have a fabulous weekend! :) Nancy

I'm joining Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.  It's so interesting to see all the creative things that people are doing!

Beautiful Texas

Claudia and Cindy throw out a challenge each Friday.  Find something beautiful and share something around my home…and tell about it.

Could anything be lovelier than my irises?

DSCN2238

Right here in my front yard?

DSCN2250

Could it be this field of bluebonnets across the street?

DSCN2249

Oh my!  Could anything be more spectacular?  Perhaps….

DSCN2245

this symphony of flowers welcoming us to my friends' ranch?

DSCN2215

Could anything be added to make this beauty of the earth be even more lovely?

YES!!! And that would be……………….

Miss Lillie Louise….

DSCN2209

taking time to smell the flowers.

Peek-A-Boo

DSCN2077 I love all three of these Friday and Saturday memes and my new bunny and little birdies fit right in for all of them.  Wink, wink!

DSCN2069

This adorable bunny came home from Ohio with me on the plane – 1st class!  (We were upgraded to 1st class and I'm pretty sure it's because he was with us!)  At security the agent told me…"everything's fine except that bunny and we're going to have to confiscate it"  Oh my gosh – my heart jumped up in my throat – I was ready to cry and then she laughed and said "just kidding".  LOL Forty jillion people asked me where I got him and I can't remember the name of the nursery but it's just down from The Morgan House in Dublin.

DSCN2067

Made of hydrangea petals he's right at home with the three little bluebirds that moved in while I was gone!  (Thank you sooo much to the blogger who told me about the Goodwill online auction that week!)

Is it me or are they not the most adorable little guys???  I didn't even get out my Easter decorations other than the snowbunnies but the nice thing is – I don't have to pack it all away!!!

DSCN2071 Have a wonderful weekend…from…

The Bunny, The Bluebirds and Nancy :)

Pink and Purple Saturday

Almost two months ago our nephew and niece called asking us to come for their mom's birthday.  We told them we'd call  them back and think about it and when we did…about ten minutes later two e tickets arrived in my inbox!  With top secrecy instructions…no one was to know.  What a surprise for my sister in law, Judy and what a gift for us!  I hadn't been back to Ohio for six years and it was absolutely wonderful seeing our family again.

DSCN1919

Judy's and Gary's kids, Greg and wife Hollie, and Kim and husband Chris threw one fabulous party.  Old neighbors, friends and family all gathered to wish the Jude a happy, happy birthday!

As in most families we always seem to celebrate with food and…

DSCN1911-1

what a spread prepared by Hollie and Kim. (They aren't quite so fuzzy in real life! haha)

DSCN1968

We were only together for four nights and managed to have three big family dinners.  I love everyone yakking at the same time, always drawn to the kitchen table laughing and reminiscing.

DSCN2024

And purple – lots of purple shows up in memory of my mother in law, Jane.  I think she'd be thrilled to see her kids – Judy, Jeff and Joan and all of their families still gathering, still bonding and still celebrating together even if one of us, namely me has been MIA for a few years!

While we have moved probably 10 times in all these years to different cities or houses…Judy has been in her house for over 40 years and their home is always so cozy and familiar.…..

however it's The Queen herself (Ohio's 1957 Queen of Queens! Just look at that trophy with her crown!)

who is the glue that holds our family together.

Not one to claim the number 70 two days early – here she is on the 29th with good ole Gare my brother-in-law.

Thank you Greg and Hollie for a wonderful trip and reunion –you guys are beyond generous.  Wow – we really pulled off the surprise!
