Pink Saturday

I love looking around my house for a few things to photograph for Pink Saturday. I really don't have a lot but there seems to be some in every room. These pink canisters are usually out for three or four months each year and they just may stay longer this year. How about this pink thermometer? I need to replace the battery on the outside part of it but right now I don't need to be reminded that at 9:39 at night it's still 88 degrees outside. Ugh...I really hate summer heat! I need an extra feature showing $$$igns and my electric meter spinning.
Isn't this bejeweled mirrored tray just the prettiest? I had to put a flower on it to get a decent picture with a flash! I wonder if they're authentic jewels? Probably not since I picked this up at Goodwill last week! One day maybe I'll remember to......
take a few pictures of pink things in daylight!
And finally.....don't we all love the Texas Longhorns. Yes, you do - you know you do. See my shadow finger puppet show doing the "hook em horns" sign - what talent! (I have to admit I'm not a fan of the color orange - burnt orange is a step up - so except for game day I like the pink fan stuff)
Stop over at How Sweet the Sound to find more pink places to visit.....but first go see my "flea market" junk at My Crafty Little Shop. Thanks for coming and you really don't need to wait for Saturday - come visit anytime! Nancy

Have you heard about the Friday Flea Market Group? I thought that might be a good way to start clearing out some of my things so I've decided to jump in. I didn't however want to clutter up this blog so I'm posting a lot of incredibly valuable items at My Crafty Little Shop. How do you like my little button I made? The one in the sidebar is a permanent link to go there. I'm trying to get things ready for this Friday. I also put a Paypal button on there! See - it's just like shopping at Macy's....well, maybe Ebay! Anyway, I'm amazed I figured out how to make all these bells and whistles! So go over there and look it over and tell me what you think. Then click on the link there and come back here - dizzying isn't it!?!

Goodbye to George

George Carlin - Stand-Up Comedian, Author, Actor
He made us laugh when we were kids with his "clean" Hippy Dippy Weatherman. A few years later if you could afford $3.50 per month for HBO then you could hear the Seven Words You Can't Say On Television! and who didn't love his baseball/football. Loved him and will miss him.

Holy Pink Saturday

This is my first time to join in on all this pinkness! I started looking for some pink things to share and looking through some pictures taken earlier I seem to have established a theme......all Christian related. First I found this picture of a little First Communion celebration where I used my pink plastic Last Supper. For some reason I started collecting kitschy pink plastic religious items??????
This lovely arrangement is actually part of......................
this. A giant cross made out of flowers - a tradition at our church every Easter. It's always breathtaking and just keeps getting more beautiful as more parishoners add flowers. Isn't it wonderful?
And finally a pink and white cross that my husband made. It's pretty large and made to hang on the wall but of course I had to fiddle around with the picture to make it more artsy! (It's still in my etsy store)

Pink Blessings to all of you - hope you have a rosy Saturday.

Be sure and visit How Sweet the Sound

to see all the blogs that are Pretty in Pink today!

I can't believe I'm discussing my knockers with you right here on my blog!

A Fine Mess - Welcome to The Nester's Imperfect Blog Party

Move some furniture around, leave the room for a minute and you've got a theater for your action guys along with the perfect audience.

I'm learning! Give a boy a jester hat and he's good to go. Put that same hat on a girl and pretty soon she's embellishing it in her couch pillow salon! Obviously the flowers not yet packed away were not enough.......
Ahhhhh - unpack some and it's perfect. Forget packing away Christmas - let's both put flowers in our hair!!!!! Who needs a clean house when there are sick yorkies to cuddle and sweet shelties and grandsons to photograph. Love these pictures much more than....
my jillions of posed pictures in a clean house!!!!!!!

However - try to do a little after Thanksgiving shopping - leave the men in charge while the kids go outside and.........

see what happens!

I'm sure your house or even the mistreated house of the great and powerful (ly talented!) Nester was never this disastrous!

Thanks, Nester, for reminding us yet again It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful!
Now get your frazzled self over to The Nester's blog to see all the imperfectly wonderful blogs participating in this big mess!

Design on a Dime

You wanted to see my favorite Flea Market finds? Well, you might as well stay in my little attic guest room. Here at the top of the stairs is a large trompe l'oeil picture I found at Goodwill - it's marked $160.00 on the original tag on the back and I bought it for ....TAdA.......$2.99! Go ahead and throw your bags on the bed........... and sit down on

my $70 down filled loveseat. Not my best buy because I had to have it reupholstered but I love it and it had me at "down filled"!Behind it is a sofa table my husband picked up for $10.00. See the pretty broken china top???? It's fake. I decoupaged paper pieces on it. I saw something similar in a magazine and wondered how you could collect enough broken china in those patterns to do a whole tabletop - then I read it was paper and I had to try it!Remember my window mistreatment a few weeks ago. I bought these lovely lace Priscilla curtains just for the lace and who knew that my $2.00 garage sale find would be just perfect for this window. (My menopausal friends need the extra light to wake up along with a window unit to supplement the central a/c that just doesn't cut it up here!) And finally a real favorite. In the bottom of a box of junk I bid on at an auction ten years ago was a pair of these crystal holdbacks and this is the first place I've ever had to use them. I was soooo excited. Now......
If I could just find a really cheap painter at a flea market - truly, that would be a find!I'm off to visit our guest host Heidi at birds of a feather to see your fave finds!
Psst - wanna see some macho men????????? Check them out 6

What's In A Name?

From two fine names of two fine fathers : Walter Louis & Marshall Benjamin.....
I can name a passel of men!1. Brandon Jacob
2. Jeffrey Louis II
3. Quentin Marshall
4. Brandon Jason
5. Jeffrey Louis
Aren't they just the macho-est you have ever seen. Look how macho the right end is........they still dress alike! The opposite end is giving some sort of gang signal. And the other two have stopped torturing each other just long enough for me to snap this picture and two of them just took the "horn fingers" down from behind two other heads. Out of five blurry shots this is the best I could do.....so anyway.
Happy Father's Day
Y You Guys!

Trash? Treasure? You Decide!!!

What a weekend! Jeff and I and our buddies Mike and Barbara worked our way through a plethora of garage sales, estate sales and then hit the Goodwill Store. I got plenty of trash items - just waiting to be turned into treasure.
Speaking of turning something in.............. Look at this little old Golden Book. Call CPS. Her poor little kitten soiled his mitten and there's no time out or sitting in the corner.......she's spanking him!!! Do you think it's an older copy???
This little jewel folds up flat and once it was opened it looks pretty good as is.Here's my garage sale mirror. $5.00 but they came down to $4! I'm painting it white for my guest room. I even like that discoloration on the edge of the mirror.
Great old dictionary and Childs Garden of Verses with wonderful illustrations.I've had this shade for a lot of years and move it around a lot but it seems right at home on this old wall lamp I got on ebay. This wicker table top sags (yes, it should be my table!!!!!) but looks and works great with a glass top added. (My little grandson decorated this for Christmas a couple of years ago) The old green bread tin underneath is great storage and I left it as is, also, This dear ......
candelabra was made by my dad for my inlaws. There's lots of coats of paint chipping off and it's great for hanging stuff on. Below that is a wicker cedar chest (what a description!) bought at a church tag sale.Oops - I almost forgot about this......I really have no place for it but felt it should have a better home than the old dusty garage it was living in so I just brought it home with me! Isn't the black floral trim just the prettiest??? I guess I'll sell it but I really hate to part with it.

I could go on all day but I just got home and want to see all of your trash. Thanks for stopping by and thank you Analise for hosting this fun tour. Check out all the trashy sites listed on Analise's trashed out blog. You'll just love it. Trashy Nancy

A Broken Heart

This was almost us last Wednesday night. While I was lost in the computer Jeff comes in and tells me his jaw hurts..."Oh, it's probably that mouth deal you wear at night for the cpap" I blithely said as I brushed him off. (Thinking back I now feel like the lady in the above picture) About an hour later he came back and said my chest is hurting now and that's when it hit me - chest pain + jaw pain = Heart Attack!

I called the Dr. and he said go the nearest emergency room; matter of fact call h 911 and stupidly I drove him because 1) this couldn't be and 2) he said no way. (Denial on both our parts) What a week! He was having a heart attack and we learned that some don't show up on ECG's and that he has ectatic arteries and that's genetic. Caused by a clot or plaque blocking an artery, his was dissolved by the medicine or either passed on through by itself. Could it have killed him?? Oh yeah. The catherization showed he didn't need surgery or a stint but found those raggy arteries. And you know - maybe it's a blessing in disguise because now our sons and grandsons can watch this early and Jeff's sisters can be aware.
I didn't even want to post about this because I have trouble finding words to do so. He's home after 4 days and should be okay...but it doesn't seem right not to mention. And the only way I know how to get through this is with a little humor, a little prayer, and a little help from my friends. Ordinary Miracles by Sarah Maclachlan sums it up for me. May we all appreciate the daily miracles in our life. I think we had a big miracle.

Bye - I Yyou! Nancy

It's not that unusual
When everything is beautiful
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
The sky knows when it's time to snow
Don't need to teach a seed to grow
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
Life is like a gift, they say
Wrapped up for you everyday
Open up, and find a way
To give some of your own
Isn't remarkable?
Like everytime a raindrop falls
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
The birds in winter have their fling
And always make it back by spring
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
When you wake up everyday

Please don't throw your dreams away
Hold them close to your heart
'Cause we are all a part
Of the ordinary miracle
Ordinary miracle
Do you want to see a miracle
It seems so exceptional
That things just turn out after all
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
The sun comes out and shines some bright
And disappears again at night
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today

You Have Better Storage Than Me But Here's Mine Anyway!

Wait for me - I wasn't going to do Show and Tell today (what a week I'll tell you later) but I started looking at all your neat blogs and now I feel like you guys went on a girl trip without me! My camera batteries are DEAD so here's some pictures I took last month and who knows why? Maybe testing the flash. This should make you feel organized and maybe later I'll take some real pictures!
Here's my new storage area that I got last month from my dear friend Craig. Yes, he sold it to me for $40! In the middle section I keep a lot of copier and computer paper. On the left side I keep ribbon rolls and in the sewing baskets are buttons. Pretty much everything is jumbled up. I wish I could say things were sorted by color and size but I always tell the truth on my blog (except when I lie or exaggerate!) and it's a big mess.I use all sorts of things like bowls, planters, and vintage things to store supplies and when I'm avoiding getting something important done I start decorating them! My favorite "storage" thing is that lazy susan on the top. I keep adhesives and my most used items on that. I love old napkin holders to put stuff in, too. Here's a shelf unit (thank you, Craig) I picked up for $15. I have three more of these in different sizes. I use vintage red plastic canisters and storage containers to store smaller items. Most of these have labels as do the old wicker suitcase deals in the corner. I have to label the outside because last year I seem to have misplaced my memory. This is the wall where we just tore off the wall board. Every wall in this house has this bead board behind it. I'm sort of liking seeing the various paints from the last hundred years so we may leave it like this. It's a great excuse for not getting it painted, none the less! I had big plans for all the space since it goes up high but my husband made 10 of his wire crosses and hung them up here. How would he like it if I took over his so called garage workspace?????Oh wait, I do that! Should I paint the wall or not? Yes?????No?????? Sorry I was late and thanks for waiting on me blog buddies - you guys are the best.
Thanks Cerri and Analise for hosting - now go see them!!!! Click on the title and you're there!
