Gift It Forward

Oops…I forgot to sign up for Pink Saturday but I saw this great little opportunity on Flickr and decided to do it….

DSC05328

This isn't an exchange, but more of a "gift it forward" kind of thing. The people you make something for will not be making anything for you unless you happen to get on their list.

The first five (5) people to respond to this post in the comments on this Flickr pic will get something made by me - something REAL that you could actually stub your toe on if you left it lying around on the floor.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully.

1. There is no guarantee that you will like what I make, although I really hope you do. And, remember, sometimes it's okay to tell a little white lie to spare a person's feelings. *sniff*
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It will be done 3 months from the day I make my offer.
4. I will not give you any clue what it's going to be, so don't bother begging. ;-)
5. If you sign up to receive something from me, all you need to do is offer your own "Make 5".
6. I'm willing to ship anywhere in the U.S., but if you have geographical limits, please say so in your own post.
7. Since you're offering to Make 5 gifts, it's probably okay to sign up for 5 other people's "Make 5". Just follow your own heart on that. :)
8. Even though you sign up for others' Make 5, you might not actually get anything. It's probably best to plan to give with no expectation of a return gift. You just never know. :-)

I thought I’d post this here so hopefully I’ll get to send something to my bloggy buddies!  But you have to go to my Flickr page to sign up.  Click Here to go sign up and leave your name on my Flickr page.

For the last  16,345 days  I  have worn my wedding band and have never taken it off. From the time my new husband put it on my finger it’s never been off…never.   It must be shrinking because today my finger was so swollen Jeff had to CUT IT OFF!!!!!  Not my finger…the ring.  I’m not superstitious at least that’s what I keep telling that little cloud that’s hanging over my head and my finger that looks like an inner tube!  I’m going to have to have some sort of good luck ritual to be able to sleep tonight.  Sighing….good night all…

Oh yea, I actually am doing Pink Saturday after all.  Beverly at How Sweet the Sound is our hostess for a host of blogs sporting pink so stop and visit!

Friday ~~Finding Beauty

The Painted Churches of Texas surely rank as one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.

“Inside, each is decorated in a profusion of color, with nearly every surface covered in bright paint.  German and Czech immigrants fleeing the Austrian Empire celebrated religious freedom found here in Texas by decorating humble Texas churches with  glorious interiors. “

DSC06999

There are five of these churches located near Schulenburg, Texas.DSC06991

They are simple country churches that are painted to resemble the cathedrals of the homelands from which they came.

Some were painted by parishioners,  some by artists and they are all spectacular.

Finding beauty so close to home – such a blessing!

Pink Saturday

Hello and welcome!  This week I’ve been working on a new header for our antique store website – The Roost -

I wanted to keep the Rooster and Hen which is our logo and I’m happy to say I did that and still managed to make it work with PINK!

Valentine

These plates are going in this week.  I don’t know if it’s Valentines Day coming up, or…….

Friday - Finding Beauty

Today is Friday and we're looking for beauty.  I think my dog Lillie Louise is about the most beautiful thing and she definitely brings huge joy into our lives.  She's a sheltie and shelties are really smart (besides being incredibly sweet).  Her breeds close cousin, the Border Collie,  however. are the rocket scientists of the dog world.  So I thought I'd share this video from You Tube.  Since it's been viewed millions of times I'm probably the last person in the world to see it.  These dogs respond to whistles and commands from their owners to move sheep exactly where they are told and they are just amazing.  Take a look - you'll be amazed, too!

I’m joining  Claudia at Dipity Road~~ Finding Beauty which she plans to host each Friday. I think it would do us all good to look for beauty each week. Be sure to visit Claudia and the other beautiful participants.   Have a beautiful day!

The Late Great Goodwill Hunting

Look –this is one of my last finds at Goodwill Hunting…(the Goodwill OUTLET store as opposed to regular Goodwill Stores)  What was once like going on a treasure hunt at a big warehouse has been computerized and they charge you buy the pound now!  Anyway – I did get this great turquoise mixer there.

Copy of DSCN0464

Isn’t it just so cute?  And it works!

DSCN0470

But its going in the store tomorrow.  That’s the downside of being in the antique business.

Your husband expects you to actually sell your best finds!

So what about you guys?  Have you found the thrift stores charging ridiculous prices lately?  Might as well shop at Saks.  We bloggers should band together and boycott them for a while.  Plan it someone!

Friday – Finding Beauty

I love old linens – tablecloths, napkins, bits of lace and when I open my wicker chest.  it’s like opening a present….
DSC04885
They hold a lot of possibility – napkins become curtains (and vice versa)
DSC04886
lace from a dress goes into an art project. They are so versatile and just pretty to look at.   Honestly – can you ever have too many? I really don’t think so!

Vintage Ephemera Swap

Aren’t these the most darling PINK bottlebrush trees?  DSCN0166

I received this fabulous little vintage cupboard from my fabulous swap partner Lisa Laughs!  When I opened the door out came a beautiful bundle of Pinkness!  Sumptuous pink ribbons and….

 DSCN0154

all sorts of other fabulousness!  Lisa is the best, the absolute best tag maker.  Her work is meticulous and oh so creative.

DSCN0147

I was amazed at her ability to fill this little cabinet with all these goodies.

DSCN0144

I’ve  swapped before with Lisa and I was thrilled to be paired up  with her for this one.

DSCN0152

It was packed with JOY!  Really!

DSCN0154

Look at how she transformed this into a work of art…every side, every nook and cranny was embellished.  I love the “Joy” and Santa stamps and all the vintage cards and paper ephemera that she included.

DSCN0156Lisa said she’d been in a “PINK” mood lately and I’m so glad she was.  Not only am I in a pink mood myself but I’ve been in a “Butterfly” mood.

DSCN0164 Thank you to Lisa for all these wonderful goodies….it’s a perfect collection to share on Pink Saturday.

And thanks to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for hosting Pink Saturday.  It’s a great opportunity to visit other like minded folks.  In keeping with her neighborly advice to recommend a new found blog I’m linking to Claudia at Dipity Road  where Serendipity is alive and well!  Besides being a Pink Saturday participant she’s hosting a new event called Fridays– Finding Beauty.  I think that sounds like an interesting thing to do this year.

Have a wonderful weekend…and stay warm – I think the whole country is Furrrrrrrrrreeeeeezing!

Texas Beauty

DSCN0253

I don’t have to go far to find beauty.  This page may look like it’s in the great Northwestern U.S.  but it’s right here in Central Texas….New Braunfels.  I took this early morning on New Years Day and I don’t know who the fly fisherman is but whoever it is must be a hardy soul wading into the chilly waters that morning.  Did you know besides oceans and rivers and mountains and deserts that Texas also offers fly fishing?  I love Texas and God has blessed our state with abundant beauty.

I’m joining Dipity Road’s first ever Meme on Friday~~ Finding Beauty which she plans to host each Friday.  I think it would do us all good to look for beauty each week.  Just click on her widget in my sidebar to visit her and the other beautiful participants.  Have a beautiful day!
