Texas Beauty

DSCN0253

I don’t have to go far to find beauty.  This page may look like it’s in the great Northwestern U.S.  but it’s right here in Central Texas….New Braunfels.  I took this early morning on New Years Day and I don’t know who the fly fisherman is but whoever it is must be a hardy soul wading into the chilly waters that morning.  Did you know besides oceans and rivers and mountains and deserts that Texas also offers fly fishing?  I love Texas and God has blessed our state with abundant beauty.

I’m joining Dipity Road’s first ever Meme on Friday~~ Finding Beauty which she plans to host each Friday.  I think it would do us all good to look for beauty each week.  Just click on her widget in my sidebar to visit her and the other beautiful participants.  Have a beautiful day!

  4. Hi there! You're right, it's crazy cold right now! I can't believe he was actually in that water on New Years - holy cow, that is a dedicated fisherman! Love this shot, New Braunfels is one of my favorite places. We are thinking of taking a "photo road trip" there next weekend if it warms up some. Have a great weekend and stay warm! Kathy

  5. Nancy, this was an interesting photo- I love the way the fisherman is centered between the trees in your shot. I love seeing the water, and I wish I was in Cali right now. I'd be a heck of a lot warmer, that's for sure. Isn't it fun to see everyone's different concepts of beauty?

P.S. Loved your improvements for 2010. We are on the same page for a lot of them. I hope I can make a few changes in myself, as well. I just paid the water bill today- and I will get socked with a late charge because I forgot to mail it over the holidays. AAAHHHH..... I feel your pain!

  6. Well hello from Canada Nancy
    First I LOVE your music.
Second, your home all decorated for Xmas was just wonderful. I spent a few minutes looking around. Your linens and your little attic space is so cozy. Love the Nativity Scene also. I have one from my childhood that is all nice and chippy also.
Now fly fishing is something my husband loves. It all started in Wyoming. Loved it there. Now were back home in Canada. Cold as heck.
your "heartbreaker post" below where I'm commenting says "with Colt"... that's my son's name. Thought I would throw that in lol
    Love your blog
    Happy FFB

  7. When I opened this post I was instantly drawn to the effects in this photo — very cool.

Then I read your 10 things for 2010 and saw you want to learn Photoshop. Well, this looks like it was done in PS, so I say you're on your way!

P.S. Can I come to your Valentine Making Party? Pretty please.

  8. I have always wanted to learn to fly fish. I have fished in some very cold weather (not right in the water though) and it can be so interesting and intense that you forget the elements...

Wonderful photo!! Thanks for coming by today, too. I usually don't get that many comments, my post had been up for awhile! ;-)

  9. Hi Nancy! Oh, I was going to join in with this group today....but I forgot. It's an Elder Thing!

I knew as soon as I saw that pix that it was in NB...over looking at the Guadalupe River. It looks just like it did when my hubs and I were there a few years ago! What a glorious sight!

Yep, Texas was blessed with some gorgeous scenery...but you NEED to come to MO. We have some swell sights, too! :)

  11. Fabulous photo! My dad was an avid fisherman while he was alive-- he could spend the whole day fly fishing. Good memories.
