Happy Christmas 2013
My big grandson who is away at college is missing…but the young one was here.
Jeff finished the wall in the living room. He tore off the plasterboard and exposed the shiplap behind it. I noticed on Pinterest that people are buying old shiplap and covering their walls and this is behind all the walls in our living room. The rest of the house has bead board walls. I griped about the living room not having it until he finished the shiplap and I really like it.
The Ohio State shrine came down and Christmas went up!
The past few years I have done the living room tree in mostly silver and the past few years I’ve not put up but one tree meaning all my favorite ornaments from decades past stayed in a box upstairs. This year I put it all one tree. I like it!!! This poor old tree is 18 years old and every year I plan to get a new one but I’m attached and would feel disloyal!
Then I got ready for our YaYa Christmas get together. I wrapped their presents…
decorated the kitchen
Couldn’t find my snowman towels (like a lot of things I couldn’t find) so made do with towels I could find for my “curtains”
We all went to the Texas Lutheran Choir’s program at St. Martins in Austin – it was sooo beautiful. Came back to my house for a gourmet dinner of tuna potato chip casserole and waldorf salad…nod to the 1960s! Then we had tea. LaVerne brought a fabulous tea from Spain or Portugal or some other country – who can keep up with the jetsetting crowd! Anyway it was wonderfully delicious.
Don’t we look festive…just love these girls to the moon and back. We’ve been friends all of our lives.
Last night was my church ladies Christmas Bunco party. It was so much fun. They look nice enough but don’t be fooled…they steal in the blink of an eye. I had three fabulous presents in the gift exchange and had two stolen from me! haha
That’s pretty much it for me for December so far. Sorry Beverly that I have been MIA for Pink Saturday. Do stop by her place if you want to see a beautiful Christmas home tour. Hopefully I’ll be able to visit all the Pinkie blogs this weekend. I wish you all a most blessed Christmas.
xoxo Nancy…from my house to yours!

Blog Neglect
Happy day after Thanksgiving…Black Friday….Pink Saturday… I have certainly neglected this blog lately. This is pretty much how I spent yesterday. Last week I caught an awful cold and just when I thought it was going to get better…wham. It settled in my chest. So other than making a cranberry salad I didn’t cook anything. Jeff cooked the turkey, mashed potatoes, stovetop stuffing – yuk but I wasn’t eating it anyway – and some yams. No vegetables! And three of us ate on trays in the living room. He also made three pumpkin pies and something went wrong because one taste and they all went straight into the trash!
I haven’t a clue what went amiss because I wasn’t even supervising! Fortunately we had a backup apple pie that was delicious. After spending most of the day holed up with my steamy vaporizer I wandered out of the bedroom to watch a little of the Longhorn/Texas Tech game with the boys. Looks like it’s a win for the Longhorns. Lilly Louise was unable to stay awake for the game even though she is a Longhorn fan.
As you can sort of see the living room is not finished but I have high hopes it might be before Christmas. I hope you had a happy (and healthier than me) Thanksgiving. I’m going to join Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for Pink Saturday and hopefully visit some of you guys.

Happy Dia de los Muertos
I’m not a huge fan of the Dia de los Muertos stuff but I did a sampler swap a few years ago with a friend who is…
this is my pink rendition of a sugar skull. I do like the idea of a day of remembering and paying tribute to those who have passed on. If I remembered my sister I’d have to leave cigarettes on her shrine. She was a tiny thing and smoked since her teen years. And….that is what killed her. Lung cancer. Seven years ago this month. And….I miss her a lot. She lost a lot of weight for no reason. Her doctor checked tons of things and couldn’t find a reason. He didn’t do a chest xray. By the time she went to a different doctor who did a chest xray first thing…it was too late. She lived 9 months after she was diagnosed, dying the week of Thanksgiving. Enough about that.
Did you have any trick or treaters? We had absolutely none! My house must look forbidding this year as I have no fall or Halloween decorations out. Here’s my little witch who never made it out of the attic this year wishing you all a
belatedly happy Halloween and a Happy Pink Saturday!!!

M Is For Moon
So…Lately I’m doing good if I update this blog once a month. I’m doing an altered tin swap and thinking it was due October 1st I finished it in September only to find out it wasn’t due until Nov 15th!
Have you ever done one of these? I had not and it isn’t easy so I did a lot of griping and stressing.
It’s a starry moonlit night on the front. M…M is for moon. And do you know what happens during a crescent moon? Fairies wash their panties!
And hang them out to dry! Isn’t that tiny little fairy just the sweetest face thing?
She’s shy so she just peeks out the door.
Who knew this. Tiny yellow panties – you never would have known – hung out to dry, among the leaves in this secluded place! Goodbye little fairy.
And some sad news. My friend MaryAnn has cancer and is undergoing chemo. MaryAnn hosts our Itty Bitty Book Club – one of my favorite things to do. Rhonda ( Rhondamum ) is putting together an IBB for MaryAnn and these are the two pages I made. The first one: She stood in the storm and when the wind did not blow her away she adjusted her sails. I know that MaryAnn has adjusted her sails and pray that she is on her way to being cancer free.
Here’s the second page for her…front and……
back….Love and luck.
This third page is for a collaborative book for an art auction for her. The back…and
Keep a green bough in your heart – the singing bird will come. The front:
This is about as “fall-ish” as I can get right now. Work in our living room is continuing and it’s a big giant mess so no decorations are out. These projects are small scale and perfect to work on right now as I am still working on strengthening my quad muscles. Therapy is going great and most of it is in a giant heated pool which feels great and makes the rehab a bit easier.
Now I’m going to Beverly’s blog and check out all your Pink Saturday posts. xoxo Nancy
